Real brides by Hollywood Beauty: Orla - Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny

This wedding was such a memorable one, I had to write a piece on it, it was a very sweet morning.... wait for it....

Orla had booked her wedding with me about 19 months in advance, she found it hard to get a makeup artist based in Dublin but that would travel to Kilkenny on the morning of her wedding.

At the trial in Dublin in my studio, we discussed the dress, the hotel, the hair and the theme for the day. I was so excited to be a part of this beautiful brides day. Orla had her beautiful twins in the bridal party and we chatted all about them. The Lyrath Estate is always a venue I wanted to work in and finally I got to with this beautiful bride.

As her ceremony was an early one in a church a few mins from the hotel we had an early 7am start with 6 people for makeup. I decided it would be best to stay over the night before, I always feel that if you need to travel for more than 1 hr and it is an early start it’s best to stay over just Incase of any unfortunate mishaps.

I was coincidentally staying on the same floor as Orla which was great, up at 6am quick bite and shower and down her room room before 7am to set up.

Everyone was ready for 12.30pm with time to spare.

Orla had been on holidays before the big day and had beautiful freckles she really wanted covered and a dark sultry Smokey eye with black liner. I used Nars Sheerglow foundation mixed in with a Estée Lauder double wear for longdevity and coverage for the base. For the eyes I used a soft golden brown, MAC embark on the socket and outer corners which is a purple based brown - great for green eyes. Black liner, no flick just smudged out with black shadows on the corners and along the lash line for a soft smoked out effect and black eyeliner on the lash line. It really suited her. For the brows we used #19 brow gel from Inglot, i love this as it’s waterproof and smudge proof in minutes with a powdery finish.

Orla had her own gorgeous mink lashes.

Soft pink blush and MAC soft and gentle highlighter, for the lips we used MAC Soar lipliner and Blankety lipstick.

On a personal note, Orla loved picture this and her soon to be husband had organized a personalized video message to Orla it was so sweet, and a lovely frame with pictures of them both and the twins. A beautiful card with words that made us all cry, luckily I was still there for touch ups.

It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of Orla’s day and shows me just how much I love what I do when you get to share these special moments.

Also a little note the hotel ‘Lyrath Estate’ is a beautiful hotel to stay in, clean, comfortable, staff are so helpful and brilliant and the food is top quality. Can’t wait to go back, definitely my next short break destination.
